THE ALEXANDER HAMILTON BRIDGE
The Alexander Hamilton Bridge rehabilitation project was the largest contract awarded at the time ($419 million) by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to lead joint venture partner, China Construction America (CCA Civil). The bridge was a major artery in NYC, carrying 8 lanes of traffic on I-95 with 6 bridge ramps since its erection in 1963.
CCA Civil collaborated with the animator to create a 3D animation that simulates the bridge construction process. It simplifies complex work specs including reinforcement of steelwork and installation of new drainages. Starting from the ideation stage to storyboarding, the animator worked closely with CCA Civil to precisely outline the bridge geometry, texturize aesthetic elements and model mechanical systems.

3D Animation of Shoring System
The animation showcases CCA Civil’s implementation of a shoring system that alleviates the existing traffic congestion during the bridge removal process. This design significantly reduced NYSDOT project cost and enabled CCA Civil to complete Stage 4 and 5 thirty-five days ahead of schedule. The project received four prestigious awards in the Civil Engineering and Construction categories.
