LEAD PRODUCT DESIGNER
Angela Song is the co-founder and creative director of Crayon HQ. With more than 10 years of experience in creative design and animation, her strengths include visual concept ideation, illustration, branding, and UI/UX design. Her philosophy is to always remain curious and push boundaries in the realm of design.
Among many accolades in her career, Angela won second place in the Forge Siggraph 2009 competition, sponsored by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The competition is a 32-hour live challenge, and her work included storyboarding, remodeling, animation, and film editing. She also worked on Bill Plympton’s animated feature film “Cheatin”, which won Best Animated Feature at the 42 annual Annie Awards.
Angela’s extensive educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Fine Art in Animation from Rochester Institute of Technology. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art in Animation from China Academy of Art, and Certificates of UI/UX Mobile Design and Design from Pratt Institute and New York Code and Design Academy, respectively.
Growing up influenced by her father’s entrepreneurial and design mindset in the printing and packaging industry, Angela’s favorite toy as a child was the Pantone formula guide. She defines design as a “work process that drives development based on the customer’s needs” and notes that “design influences the way a person thinks and reacts to the environment.”
